I <3 Food. A lot.

Until I can haul myself and my laptop to a place with free WiFi and no distractions to upload pics of my house, here are some fun food things to tide you over.

I'm making these for a bake sale at work tomorrow. I cannot wait to try one. Here's how you make them.

I also want to make this:

Maybe I should just open up a shop and start making all kinds of tasty treats.

And this? This is why I want to marry a sexy cowboy. So he can bring home really good ribeye and we can have deliciously unhealthy food for dinner before eating all of the sweet treats I posted above:)

Ooo, and in random news, Pioneer Woman is going to be in Nashville and Atlanta in December for a book signing. Anyone want to take a road trip?

I'm going to Clinton!

I was listening to NPR this morning and heard the announcement for this fall's Clinch River Antique Festival. You know how excited I get about this thing.

Seriously, though. It's not some gigantic event (not at all like the World's Largest Yard Sale that I went to last month), and it's not like you'll find everything you wanted and more. But it's just so fun to go look around and see what you see. And eat all of that delicious food the vendors have!

October 10th. Get up early and trek to Clinton. Bring $20 just for food. Hopefully the weather will be better this year!

Family Reunion

Some random pics from the annual family reunion:

Three generations of women. My sister is pregnant with another little girl... This family is not very good at producing men... Oh well:)

Kimberly and I tubing. FYI: Canvas can rip off skin. Beware.

Brian and David tubing.

Gangsta. He also knows the Soulja Boy dance.

Spending my bday with family! Yay!

The whole gang. Well, we are missing a few folks. But this was everyone that came in for the weekend.

Do not-- I repeat, DO NOT-- let this man run out of oxygen.

My two most favorite boys in the whole wide world.

Joseph had the ingenious idea to use the leaf blower to inflate the raft. Seriously people-- it works!

Lots of chilling out on the porch.

And here is my instructional video on How to Wakeboard.

I love summer.

My short-term roommate Emily and I went for a trip down the river! Dinner was pretty cheesy, but we had a great view and it's always a blast hanging out with this girl!

Annual Peden Family Reunion. This year saw a smaller crowd and so it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Kimberly, Serena, and I went for a little ride on the tube! I didn't get many pics w/ my camera, so I'll have to grab some from my parents and post later.

Night out with girls from work. Please note Jill's lovely face:)

It has stormed a lot this summer, which has taken a little getting used to. My bedroom has cathedral ceilings, which means there's nothing between me and the roof. Which makes for LOUD storms when I'm trying to sleep.

Got to meet Vern Yip! He's very nice (and VERY SHORT). But he spelled my name correctly on the first try.

I finally made Baked Alaska. I like meringue-- A LOT-- but I don't care for it on my ice cream. Gavin liked it though, so maybe my dislike can be attributed to my issues with weird food textures?

Baked Alaska takes a lot of assembly-freezing--assembly--refreezing before finally "baking."

The finished product-- after an hour or so of sitting on the counter. After baking it, it doesn't melt. The ice cream is actually perfectly edible. But I forgot to take a pic when it was still frozen. So, you get the idea with this.

I have 2 fish. James and John. Not sure if it's Christian-makers, music-makers, or whiskey-makers. You decide.

Fried. Green. Tomatoes. Seriously. Go get some.

Julie and I found these at the big ol' yard sale that stretches from Ohio to Alabama. We hit it up a couple of weekends ago (we really only searched through Crossville) and stopped for some snackage. Since I'm a Southerner by way of some Yankees that moved down here, we never had these growing up. I've remedied that, but I'm sad I missed out for so long.

My friends went in and bought me a super-nice mixer! I love this thing! It really is a wonderful machine!

I've been out of town here and there and Nash has had fun playing with Baxter and Tucker. They're BFFs!

Ok, that's all for now. Obviously I have a lot of updating to do with the house, my bday party, and the family reunion. Peace out!

House Update

I don't know how to make blogger work better in the picture department, so you'll just have to suffer through. Also, I haven't taken any "after" pictures, so I guess this post is pretty worthless. Oh well. Next time.

So, the bathroom was pretty nasty. It had a border around the ceiling, which I guess I didn't get a pic of. Suffice it to say it was ugly. And a complete %&*$@ to get down. This bathroom now looks completely different. And I still have stripes to paint!

This bathroom also looks completely different now. I can't wait to post some pictures of all the work I did.

So, the house was BLAND when I bought it. Every single wall, every piece of trim, and every door was painted in flat cream-colored paint. And it was all dirty. I never saw it with furniture in it, so I had no idea what it looked like as a regular place.
Before I moved in, I painted EVERYTHING. My dad painted the ceilings while I shopped for chandeliers in Clinton, then I spent the next week painting all of the walls. Here's a corner of the downstairs. Before, it was hideous.

Now, it is calm and pretty. I painted most of the downstairs a nice light blue color and it really is nice. This corner now holds the armoire, couch, and armchair. Again-- the updates make the place look completely different.

The most important thing is how much I love my house. Lovelovelovelovelove it. I am so grateful to have my own place, to be able to decorate like I want, and to just enjoy it. It is my little sanctuary, and it has been a great place of rest.

Catching Up

Ok, so I'm way behind in my blogging, so I'm going to overwhelm you with posts (which will actually end up being backwards, so you'll be reading this at the end. I think.). Anyway, here's the run-down:

Nash has gotten to know the vet's office very well over the last several months. I guess that's what I get for having a purebred dog? He's worth it, though-- mostly because he doesn't shed. But I digress. First it was a regular checkup where they discovered he had a skin infection on his feet. Then it was hives, which caused his face to swell up and he had huge welts all over his body. Benadryl didn't work, so off to the vet he went for a steroid shot and fluids! And then the most recent was another infection of some, um, glands. Thank the Lord for antibiotics! He's all better now. Well, for now...

I'm not sure I ever posted about this, but April, Leslie, Laura, and I ran the Relay Marathon in March. It was actually a lot of fun! My leg went through Island Home and downtown, which had some great supporters. And the six miles wasn't that bad at all.

Crossing the finish line!

Let's see... what else?
